NAVIS
Research Project NAVIS
Subject
Development of a neural active vision system
Abstract
With this project, we are developing the active vision system NAVIS (see block diagram (GIF image)).
It visually explores its environment, locates interesting 2-D and 3-D objects and recognizes them under control of several invariance capabilities. We deduce neural models of visual information processing from psychophysical and neurophysiological results and utilize them for the development of technical image analysis systems.
Our current work comprises visual attention and gaze control, 2-D and 3-D object recognition, color image processing, stereo image analysis, and object tracking. The experimental platforms are a binocular camera head(JPEG image) and two mobile robots, a Pioneer 1 and Pioneer 2 (JPEG image).
