The straw of the threshing process can be used in two ways. Firstly, the straw can be collected and laid down as a swath. Secondly, the combine can chop the straw and distribute it across the entire width of the cutterbar by an active distributor. Due to increasing cutterbar width and reduced tillage after harvesting, the spreaders have to spread the straw wider across and ensure an even distribution. However, there is no solution to measure this automatically. This thesis develops a measurement technology to determine the straw distribution in the field. For this purpose, images are automatically processed using machine learning methods. Different models are evaluated and a suitable model is selected. The new approach will be evaluated on several harvest experiments from different harvest seasons and will be compared to currently used measurement techniques. } }
