Introduction to a System Measurement Method------Practice and Thought

Prof. Dr. Yuan Haiwen, Beihang University

Vortrag: Mi. 15. Juni 2011, 16:30, Raum P 1.6.02.1

Abstract:

Measurement is very important; it is the first step in approaching something we do not know. This is a frequently employed method: Somewhere, most often in the industry, there is a source with certain effects. In order to understand the rules or laws of the process in question, sensors are utilized to analyze the effects/phenomena. This type of measurement only provides superficial information and it is difficult to understand why this effect/phenomenon occurs. More information and understanding can be obtained by approaching the problem in a systematic way by constructing measuring equipment. This way the parameters of source and effect can be detected simultaneously, providing comprehensive data showing rules/laws of the source and the effect.

The super extra-high voltage (nearly 2000KV) transportation line technology has been investigated in China intensively. A lot of funds have been invested in this experiment. Here, we deal with something similar to what is explained above. The corona current and electrical environment around the transmission line are the key factors to be evaluated in the development of the super extra-high voltage technology. There is a close relation between the corona current and the electrical environment; this is just the match of a source effect example. We are now adopting the above thought to develop a large measurement system for the experimental station. The waveform of the corona current and the electrical environment parameters can be recorded at the same time.

Because of the very large measuring range, it is reasonable to use a mobile robot as a carrier to complete the measurement of every experiment. In the future, if the testing system can be improved like this, the total costs and spending time of the experiment will be easily decreased due to the intelligent automation of the mobile robot.
