Research Project PRO-DASP-I and -II

Subject

Methodology and tools for low power optimized design of algorithms and architectures for audio and speech signal processing in embedded systems.

Abstract

The design of low power optimized systems for digital signal processing of acoustic signals is the general aim of this project. Such systems are required in medical help devices, mobile communication and information processing systems, and for multimedia applications.

For these applications a design methodology has been developed and formalized across all levels reflecting the interactions between algorithm and architecure at this point of system and hardware design. Continued optimization on modul and circuit level gain a high applicability of this methodology through development and consistent implementation of highly optimized typical signal processing components and low power driven design desicions on the architecture level.

As a typical application for low power audio signal processing in the frequency domain an overlap-add-structure shall be investigated, optimized, and implemented for hearing aid technology, human machine interaction, and telecommunication systems.
